IEC (Import-Export Code)

In any country, before starting business of export- Import, a license is required to be obtained from Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT), Ministry of Commerce and Industries, Government of India. Import/Export License is basically the permission required for doing business with companies / organizations which are present in other countries and the holder can acquire a predefined amount of specific products for a predetermined period.

IEC is required when—

• Clearance is required on Shipments through custom authorities.
• An importer transfers money abroad than the bank requires IEC.
• A shipment needs export clearance by customs port.
• An exporter receives payment from abroad than the bank requires IEC.

Documents Required

• Photograph of Proprietor/partner/director signing the application
• PAN card of LLP or Company
• Valid identification proof (passport / voter id / driving license / aadhar card / PAN of partner or director signing the application
• Certificate of incorporation
• Proof of Registered Office Address, not older than 2 months
• Bank certificate or cancelled cheque with printed name of applicant firm and bank a/c number
